A young design company has come up with a light and stylish new walker mobility aid, inspired by an octogenarian, that will appeal to anyone who values form as well as function.
The design of the new “Zeal” walker came about because of the experience of a relation of Georgia Williams, one of the company founders. “My Great Aunty Deb, who’s 86, said she needed a walker to use inside and outdoors to support her balance.
“We searched but couldn’t find a stylish walker that would encourage her to use it more. So we set about creating our own.”
She and design engineer Josh King then spent four years working in collaboration with users to design a walker that, they say, customers would feel proud to use.
The key features are:
● An intuitive, lightweight design that ensures maximum user comfort while providing stability and support.
● Users can choose from a range of customisable colours, materials and accessories.
● Design features like adjustable height, shock-absorbing wheels and enhanced grip handles for smooth and controlled movement on all surfaces.
● Compact and foldable for easy storage and transport.
The company say they will now look at other mobility aids that will provide a choice of style, identity and independence. By focusing on inclusive design, Zeal aims to reduce the stigma associated with disability products and offer solutions that meet the evolving needs of a growing and diverse consumer base.
Launched in November 2024, you can pre-order a walker online with expected delivery in summer 2025. To find out more, go to: www.zeal-lifestyle.com
